[Action/Video] Transmission 006 - In Which Lady Vastra Gets Into A Little Dust-Up

[Action/Accidental Video]

[Perhaps it had been her previous encounter with Edmundo 'The Self-Proclaimed Blade' that had Vastra unwilling to exit her apartment without carrying her sword with her. Truth be told, whenever she's out and about her bustle hides more than just padding, so she's never completely unarmed. But until a few days had passed without any vandalism-related incidents, Vastra mentally refuses to go anywhere without her sword.]

[Fortunately.]

[Early in the afternoon, as she's heading for the stables, Vastra is approached by four droids with clear intentions of subduing her. Their intentions don't last very long--Vastra made a hobby of taking apart sentient machines before her time in Luceti. Ones with artificial intelligence weren't exactly difficult to dispatch.]

[She stands, a little winded from the battle (it's been a while since she's had four targets at once) and surrounded by droid parts.]

I think not. [She mutters to herself as she examines her sword and rolls her eyes in supreme annoyance. Of course her sword is damaged, it had always been damaged after every dealing with a Cyberman. The hem of her gown has also been completely ripped out, in addition to the underarms of both sleeves, and her lip is split--she is a very irate mess right about now.]

[And what's more, Vastra now realizes that her journal was recording the whole thing. Grimacing, she quickly shuts it and ends the feed.]

I had been wondering how long it would be before the Malnosso attempted to get my attention with some of their robotic servants. However I did not appreciate the method of the invitation at all. And neither did my sword.

[She brings said weapon into frame. In places, it closely resembles a bread knife, there are so many dents in the blade.] Yes, I know I should simply take it to the weapons shop, however this blade is of very particular intrinsic value and I don't want to leave it just anywhere without knowing it is being properly cared for. I am hoping to speak with someone directly regarding doing a repair.

[She peers at the blade on the screen.]

Wow...that looks pretty bad.

Still, I think the smithy will take good care of it. They've fixed my blade numerous times, and it holds...intrinsic value for me as well.

Really? Do you remember who exactly you left your blade with? [Vastra can settle for a good reference from a fellow swordswoman.]

Ah...I don't remember whom I gave it to. Sorry...

[She's terrible at remembering the random people she meets.]

Although...there was another time when I left my blade with a man named Isaac so that he may duplicate it. However, he kept the duplicate as payment for his work.

Yes, he does seem fond of requesting payment...

How many times have you damaged your sword to the point of it needing repair? It sounds as though it has been a regular occurrence for you.

[And some unusual forms of payment as well...but then again, there’s no money, so what can one do?]

Well, I’ve never damaged it to that point. I just take it regularly to keep it as sharp and sturdy as it can be. Roughly every other week.

Probably a good habit to get in to, if the weapon takes weekly abuse. I haven't been using my sword as much, but perhaps I should try to get into that habit.

I use the Battle Dome a lot, especially now that I've learned to adjust the difficulty. Now I know my skill won't wither while I'm here.

Yes, I have built a few simulations myself. Though I admit, the novelty has worn off a bit. Running variations on the same scenario over and over is tiresome.

Really? I suppose it can be.

Maybe someone can teach you to build new simulations? I wouldn't mind some more lessons myself.

I've never considered asking anyone. Perhaps that would indeed alleviate some of the boredom. I assume you are running the same simulations as well, then?

Yes...just a random bandit attack in a village. I only learned how to make the bandits more agile.

So, what sort of simulations do you train with?

Cybermen, generally. Large man-shaped robots with some amount of intelligence. I have the most experience with them, and so I can program them with the most amount of accuracy.

[Something obviously foreign to her, but it still sounds intriguing. Something different.]

That sounds interesting. Perhaps I should try one day.
