[She does laugh.] While I appreciate your attention to my diet Eugene, I'm sorry to tell you that meat is meat where my stomach is concerned.

If only I could simply put prey to sleep, however the other does have to be a willing participant. I have yet to meet an animal willing to be eaten, however perhaps your experience is different. [She grins back at him.]

[ Meat was not meat, not so far as stomachs were concerned. They could discern between good and bad meat, because the direction said meat took was occasionally right back where it came from.

He opened his mouth to argue, but the final comment nearly took the ground out from under him. ]

... I'll have you know, my palette is very pretty. I wouldn't be surprised.

[Fortunately, Vastra's stomach is a little stronger. She kept Jack the Ripper down, after all.]

You wouldn't be surprised to meet something willing to be eaten? Gracious Eugene, this place and its talking animals are starting to get to you, I think.

[ If she told Eugene she'd actually eaten Jack the Ripper, he might just have to draw the line. Still, he hadn't realized her statement hadn't been intended for innuendo, and he snorted to himself, placing a hand over his face. ]

I-- oh, god. Okay, this is awkward. I meant-- y'know... eating has a few... different meanings, not all of them ingesting.

I would be very surprised if someone wanted me to eat them. Cannibalism style, it'd be different. But there are cannibal cults back home, just... waiting for people to wander into their traps.
